Visit the Beaches of Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard
Slow down the pace of your Martha’s Vineyard vacation with a visit to Chilmark. With its lush woodlands and village-like feel, Chilmark seems reminiscent of a simpler time. Chilmark’s beaches provide incredible natural scenery, an up-close look at marine life and great surfing.
Lucy Vincent Beach
One of the most picturesque beaches on all of Martha’s Vineyard, with unique rock formations dotting the shore and dramatic cliffs, this beach is reserved for Chilmark residents and renters, and permit is required for access. Located along the South Shore, this beach typically has a soft surf.
Menemsha Beach
Located along the North Shore of Martha's Vineyard, this public beach is a famous location for those looking to enjoy a magnificent sunset across the Vineyard Sound or a beach picnic. Visitors can search for crabs and sea life along the shore and walk along the rocks of the Harbor mouth. Parking in Menemsha Village Area can be scarce in July and August, so plan accordingly.
Squibnocket Beach
Depending on the last storm, this shoreline can be a bit rocky, but you can always find a great spot for a beach chair to read a book, relax, or take in the picturesque ocean and shoreline views. Reserved for local Chilmark residents and renters, a permit is required for this South Shore surfing beach.
